Internship

Interns are an integral part of Madre Latina's work and operations. From working directly with our participants to planning events to organizing our community, we have internships for everyone including recent college graduates or professionals who are interested in pursuing more formal. internships with us. Madre Latina offers semester, summer and year-long internships.


College credit can be earned through internships as applicable.

We do not offer paid internships. Some students may be able to get school credit for their internships. Internship applications must include a résumé, cover letter and two references per candidate.


Intern’s activities can include:

  • Resource Development - Interns will assist with fundraising efforts, marketing and engagement, communications, grant witting, research and even planning. Recommended for journalism, mass communications/media, public relations and international studies majors.
  • Youth Education- Interns will serve as facilitators for the Young Representative of Waterbury program, where they will lead discussions or workshops around topics on college, careers, culture, and leadership. Please note that the YROW program has specific meeting dates and times depending on the school, and is not a flexible internship commitment.
  • Family Services Coordinator - Recommended for social work, human services, public health, clinical psychology and public policy majors.
  • Employment Services - Recommended for human services, human resources, business and management majors

 Madre Latina is driven by the amazing family of volunteers who are the backbone of everything we do in our agency. We have a wide range of opportunities to contribute to our mission including:

  • Scholarship selection committee
  • Administrative support and participation in mass mailing/texting parties
  • Social Media Volunteer
  • Program Assistant / Mentor for Youth Program

  • Becoming a Donor or assisting our fundraising efforts
